According to a press release by the Director of the Chennai Meteorological Research Centre, P. Senthamaraikannan, the prevailing low-lying cyclonic circulation over Tamil Nadu is expected to bring about light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in certain locations across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today (August 17). This weather pattern is likely to persist, leading to light to moderate rain in a few places from tomorrow until August 22.
The maximum temperature projection for today ranges from 99 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit in various spots throughout Tamil Nadu. Some locations are forecasted to experience temperatures 7 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the normal range.

Over the next 48 hours, Chennai and its adjacent suburbs are anticipated to have partly cloudy skies. During this period, certain areas within the city might encounter instances of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. The expected maximum temperature for Chennai is approximately 99 degrees Fahrenheit, while the minimum temperature hovers around 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
