The people belonging to Tamil Nadu have been asked to stay away from using the fake IRCTC rail connect app.
The TN police dept has issued a press release and according to the release IRCTC or Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has issued a warning to the public about the malicious mobile app campaign that aims to cheat users and involve them in fraudulent activities.
It must be noted that the fraudsters have devised a scheme where they circulate phishing links in WhatsApp and Telegram etc. The shocking truth is that the public downloads the fake version of the IRCTC Rail Connect mobile app. The public are being made to believe that this fake app could be used legitimately to book their train tickets through the IRCTC app. It is very difficult to distinguish the fake app and the original app as the fake one resembles the original one. After the fake app gets downloaded by the person, then it would act as a tool for the fraudsters to collect important information about the person such as user names, passwords, PINS etc
It was menntioned by ADGP (Cyber Crime Wing) Mr. Sanjay Kumar that users of IRCTC must be very careful and they must follow precautionary measures to protect themselves from the fraudsters.
