Vinayagar Chathuthi is a very important Hindu festival and it would be celebrated on 18th of September across India.
On this occasion, 2lakhs of Ganesha idols or vinayagar silaigal would be consecrated (known in Tamil as Prathikstai) and worshipped across Tamil Nadu. This would include 6000 idols in Chennai. On 24th of September 2023,a procession regarding idols dissolving would take place and this was accordign to some Hindu Front executives.
It must be noted that now silaigal thayarikkum pani or works on making the idols (on the behalf of various Hindu organisations) has been going on at fast pace.
On 6th of August, a Hindu front consultation meeting was held and in the meeting discussions took place regarding the grand celebrations for the Vinayagar Chathurthi
Various important activities for the Vinayagar Chathurthi:
It was discussed that on 18th of September consecration of Vinayagar idols with Ganapathy Homam would take place and it would be followed by one week of grand celebrations. On 24th of September, Sunday, Visarjana Hindu Revival procession would be held.
In 2022, about 1.5 lakhs Ganesha idols were consecrated across TN. Now, 2lakhs of Vinagayar idols have been planned by the Hindu Front.
