The Chennai Regional Meteorological Center has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains today (Tuesday, 22nd August) in 11 districts in Tamil Nadu including Trichy, Madurai and Salem.
In a notification released by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Pa. Senthamaraikkannan in this regard, it is mentioned:
"Due to the cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Tamil Nadu region, there are prospects for widespread rains with lightning and thunder today (Tuesday, 22nd August) in Tamil Nadu and Pudhuchery.
There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in 1 or 2 places tomorrow (Wednesday, 23rd August) in Tamil Nadu and Pudhuchery.
There are prospects for mild to medium rain in 1 or 2 places In Tamil Nadu Pudhuchery from the 24th of August until the 27th of August.
There are prospects for heavy rain in 1 or 2 places today (Tuesday, 22nd August) in Nilgiri, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Thirupathur, Perambalur, Trichy, Dindigul and Madurai.
Chennai Metro City and its suburbs will remain somewhat cloudy for the next 48 hours. There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the city.
The maximum temperature will be 97 Degrees Fahrenheit and the minimum temperature will be 79 degrees Fahrenheit.
The maximum rainfall recorded in cm as of 8.30 Am yesterday (Monday, 21st August): Erode District Nambiyur – 3, Nilgiri District Koodalur Sandhai – 2, Salem District Thalaivasal, Cuddalore District Kothavachery, Nilgiri District Wood Brier Estate, Barwood, Serumulli, Naduvattam, and Pandhalur – 1."
