For more than 30 years, a MGR temple in GKM Colony or General Kumara Mangalam Colony in Kolathur has been attracting the attention of many. The temple built for MGR is now making sensational news.
Point to be noted is that the residents belonging to the GLM Colony are unhappy and they have complained that the Chennai Corporation has urged them to remove this temple due to the ongoing storm water drain or SWD construction. The zonal officers have promised the residents to keep the MGR statue back again in the same place once the SWD works get completed.
It was brought out by a resident belonging to GKM Colony in Kolathur that the MGR temple has been in their locality for more than 30 years. He added that recently the civic body has asked to shift the temple to another place until the SWD works get completed. Point is that discussions were held with the assistant engineer to go on with the SWD works without disturbing the temple. After the SWD works were completed partially, the residents here placed the temple on the drain. At present, the construction of SWD here has been halted for 5 days due to the temple.
