Greater Chennai Corporation Mayor, Priya, has informed that the Villivakkam Glass Bridge will be opened for public service within the next 3 months.
On the occasion of `Madras Day` (Chennai Day) yesterday (Tuesday, 22nd August), Chennai Metro City Mayor, Priya, shared with the press reporters regarding the subsequent phases of the development of the Chennai Metro City:
"The Greater Chennai Corporation has undertaken several initiatives and projects in the development and beautification of the Chennai Metro City, including colorful artwork on the walls roadside, setting up of medians and pavements during the construction of new roads, and installing artificial fountains in the parks. The playing grounds are also being upgraded.
Furthermore, there are currently 17 overbridges under construction in Chennai. Once these are completed, the acute traffic congestion in the Chennai Metro City will be considerably reduced.
Simultaneously, concerning the safety of women, we have planned to monitor all the subways to ensure they have all the necessary safety features and to provide them if required.
Work is progressing in full swing on the renovation of Victoria Hall. Special cement and steel rods have been procured from Mumbai for this project. We emphasize that these renovation projects MUST be completed before the end of 2024.
Presently, the construction of the glass bridge at Villivakkam is nearing completion. This Glass Bridge at Villivakkam will be dedicated for public use within the next 3 months!"
