Starting from today, important cleaning work will be taken up by CMWSSB in the Chennai localities!!

In a few months monsoon would begin and now as a part of pre-monsoon works, CMWSSB or Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board would be taking up dredging works. Sludge from sewage pipes and channels would be removed in all the GCC zones from today 25th August. This work would go on till 2nd of September 2023.
To ensure that there is no clogging, the waste from drains and inlets would be cleaned frequently. Using 142 jet machines, 720 streets in the city would be cleaned in phase one. As many as 35 sewage suction machines and 60 high speed sewage suction machines would also be employed. To remove the sludge from the sewage pipes and drains, a total of 537 machines would be used. From 5277 drains across various GCC zones in Chennai, sludge would be removed by these dredging works.
