The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains today, Saturday, 2nd September, in 9 districts in the State of Tamil Nadu.
In a notification released yesterday, Friday, 1st September, by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, it is mentioned:
"Due to the cyclonic formation prevailing in the lower layers of the atmosphere over the Tamil Nadu region and Kanyakumari Ocean, there are prospects for mild to medium rains with lightning and thunder today, Saturday, 2nd September, in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
There are prospects for heavy rain in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Kallakkurichi, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupathur, Tiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu.
There are prospects for mild to medium rain in 1 or 2 places from Sunday, 3rd September, until Thursday, 7th September, in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
Chennai Metro City and its suburbs will remain somewhat cloudy for the next 48 hours. There are prospects for medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the evening or night.
Warning for fishermen:
High-speed winds at 55 kmph may blow across the Southeast Bay of Bengal Sea areas today, Saturday, 2nd September. As such, fishermen are warned NOT to venture into the sea in these areas."
