Chennai Experiences Widespread Rain as Cyclonic Circulation Impacts City

Chennai, India, is currently grappling with widespread rain across various parts of the city on Sunday evening, attributed to a cyclonic circulation system over the sea. According to a recent report by Daily Thanthi, heavy rainfall has been observed in several localities in Chennai, including Adyar, Pattinapakkam, Mandaveli, T Nagar, Kodambakkam, Nungambakkam, Mambalam, Ashok Nagar, KK Nagar, and other areas.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued crucial updates regarding the weather conditions in the region. They have indicated that a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the Northeast Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours. Furthermore, the RMC forecasts that rainfall will persist in five districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvannamalai, Thiruvallur, and Kanchipuram for the next three hours.

These weather developments follow an earlier warning issued by the RMC on Saturday, which predicted light to heavy rainfall in 14 districts of Tamil Nadu over the course of the next two days. This warning was prompted by the presence of a cyclonic circulation system over the sea.

The ongoing rain and the prospects of further precipitation in the region have raised concerns about potential flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas. Residents and local authorities are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
