The electric power consumption in the country for August has surged by 16%!
In a government notification regarding these statistics, it is stated:
"The electricity consumption for August in the country is 15,166 Crore Units.
Compared to this, the electricity usage for August last year (2022) was 13,039 Crore Units. Consequently, the power consumption during August 2023 is 16% higher!
Furthermore, in contrast to the power usage in August 2021, which stood at 12,788 Crore Units, this represents an increase!
To put it differently, the daily power consumption in the country for August averaged 239.56 Gigawatts! In August 2022, this figure was 195.22 Gigawatts, and in August 2021, it was 196.27 Gigawatts.
The Central Ministry for Electricity has estimated a maximum daily consumption of 229 Gigawatts during the summer season. However, due to persistent monsoon rains from April to July, this level was not reached.
Nevertheless, the peak daily electric power consumption in June reached 223.29 Gigawatts. In July, it was 208.95 Gigawatts.
Statistics reveal that on September 1st, the maximum electric power consumption reached 239.97 Gigawatts.
Meanwhile, experts in this field have shared that the demand for electric power during the upcoming months will remain stable and consistent.
