In the West Mambalam in Chennai, there is a 400 year old Kasi Viswanathar temple. Kumbhabishekam of this temple took place in a grand manner and this grabbed many eyeballs. Many devotees participated in this superb function at this temple. This was the 1000th Kumbhabishegam conducted by the HR & CE department in the last 2 years.
It is noteworthy that in Tamil Nadu various temples are getting renovated, repairs are being carried out and Kumbhabishekams are being organised.
In the last 2 years till 9th of September, kumbhabhishekam of 998 temples were held by HR and CE dept across TN. Kumbhabishekam took place at the T. Nagar based sports vinayagar temple and this was the 999 temple. The 400 year old Kashi Visalakshi Udanurai Kasi Viswanathar temple located at west Mambalam in Chennai was the 1000th where kumbhabhishekam was conducted.
Various activities that took place:
Fourth yagasala puja was conducted yesterday at 5am and procession of kalasam took place at 7am in the morning. This was followed by chanting of mantras and vimana gopurams of the temple and rajagopuram kalasams were sprinkled with holy water. Afterwards, special pujas and deeparadhana were performed to parivar devas, moolavar, utsavar etc. In the evening, thirukalyanam and swami veedhi ulla or procession took place.
This kumbhabhishekam saw the presence of the minister for HR & CE Mr. SeKar Babu plus various other officials etc.
Just yesterday alone, kumbhabishekam was held for as many as 32 temples across TN. From 7th May 2021 till 10th September 2023 kumbhabhishekam were carried out for a total of 1030 temples.
