The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains today (Friday, 22nd September) in 11 districts in Tamil Nadu State.
In a notification released in this regard by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, it is mentioned:
"A cyclonic pattern prevails in the lower layers of the atmosphere over the Kanyakumari Ocean region. Furthermore, there is a phenomenon of changing speed in the westerly winds blowing across Tamil Nadu.
As such, there are prospects for mild to moderate rains with lightning and thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today (Friday, 22nd September) and tomorrow (Saturday, 23rd September).
There are prospects for mild to moderate rain in a few places on the 24th & 25th of September and in 1 or 2 areas on the 26th & 27th of September.
There are prospects for heavy rain today (Friday, 22nd September) in 1 or 2 places in the mountainous regions of Coimbatore district, Nilgiri, Erode, Theni, Dindigul, Trichy, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Thirupathur, and Kallakkurichi districts.
The maximum rainfall recorded in centimeters as of 8.30 AM yesterday (Thursday, 21st September): Thirupathur – 10, Ranippettai District Arkadu, Thiruvannamalai District Porur – 9 each, Thiruvannamalai District Cheyyaru – 8."
