It is not safe to travel on the Kolathur based Katappa Road that is full of many potholes. The commuters now are facing a huge risk here. Recently, CMWSSB or carried out underground pipes laying work in this place and due to that the road condition has become bad. The CMWSSB haven`t re-laid the road yet. The damaged road has been troubling many motorists as well as the pedestrians etc. Inspite of many complaints to relay the road here no action has been taken till now.
Ahead of NE monsoon season, GCC did some patchwork for the damaged road but within one week CMWSSB has carried out road cuts. The damaged drinking water pipeline has been fixed but the road hasn`t been re-laid yet. Truth is that the motorists have been finding it tough to drive through these potholes on the road. It is shocking to note that in the rainy season the place becomes worse resulting in heavy traffic pile ups etc.
It was revealed by a resident from Kolathur that even for mild rains water gets collected leading to traffic congestion. Information is that Katappa Road is one of the arterial roads that connect many areas like Vinayagapuram, Senthil Nagar, Retteri etc.
According to a senior officer from Chennai Corporation belonging to the Madhavaram zone of Ward-3, road re-laying works has been going on and majority of the work would be completed before the onset of NE monsoon.
