A special `Sandhai` (trading event) is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, 18th October, at the Chennai Koyambedu wholesale food grains market complex in celebration of the Ayudha Pooja Festival.
Traditionally, special `Sandhais` are organized throughout the year on festive occasions like Pongal, Vinayaka Chathurthi, and Ayudha Pooja, offering special pooja/prayer items at discounted wholesale prices in the Koyambedu wholesale flowers sales complex. The Koyambedu Market Administration typically conducts an auction and awards the contract to a selected party to organize these events.
However, due to the ongoing Metro Rail Project work in the Koyambedu Market Area this year, no auction is planned, and the Koyambedu Market Administration itself is organizing the Sandhai.
Therefore, a special Sandhai in celebration of Ayudha Pooja is being organized by the Koyambedu Market Administration on Wednesday, 18th October, at the Koyambedu Wholesale Food Grains Complex.
During this Sandhai, various items such as puffed rice, puffed pulses, bananas, plantain saplings, plantain leaves, sugarcane, apples, sweet limes, pomegranates, as well as flowers like jasmine, roses, mullai (Tuscan jasmine), Samanthi (Chamomile flowers), and flower garlands will be available for both wholesale and retail purchases.
This fair (Sandhai) will be operational until the 27th of October.
The Koyambedu Wholesale Market Administration has requested the Police Department to enhance the police presence during this festive occasion to manage large crowds and prevent thefts.
