With the important festival Ayudha Pooja fast approaching now and due to huge demand, the prices of flowers and vegetables have increased marginally now in the Koyambedu market in Chennai.
From Thursday onwards, the Koyambedu wholesale market might receive lower quantities of products and the prices of flowers and veggies might become more. This was according to some traders now.
Mr. P. Sukumaran, secretary, Koyambedu Wholesale Merchants Association expressed his thoughts, he spoke about how the market has been receiving adequate supply of perishable commodities now from the neighbouring states like AP and Karnataka etc. He added that the supply would get reduced on the account of Ayudha pooja and Vijayadashami. From 19th of October, the prices might increase.
Currently, at the Koyambedu wholesale market-
Beans are being sold for Rs 70 to Rs 80 per kg, broad beans are being sold for Rs 60 to Rs 70 per kg, carrots are being sold for Rs 20 to Rs 25 per kg, tomatoes & potatoes for Rs 20 per kg etc. Ginger is being sold for Rs 240 per kg and shallots for Rs 120 per kg.
