Anna University is taking proactive steps to raise awareness among students regarding the job prospects of newly introduced courses like the Bachelor in Vocational Logistics Management and Footwear Manufacturing under the `Naan Mudhalvan` scheme for the current academic year. To encourage enrollment, the university has extended the registration deadline for these courses until October 31.

Dr. R Velraj, the Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, revealed that only five students have enrolled in these two courses so far. He emphasized that these courses were developed in collaboration with the Sector Skill Council, and students pursuing them should have no difficulty finding job opportunities. Dr. Velraj highlighted the advantage of these courses, where students gain practical experience in industries while studying, contributing to increased employment prospects. Both courses have a duration of three years.

In addition to promoting vocational courses, Dr. Velraj hinted at potential changes in the state`s educational landscape. He suggested that the state government is contemplating reducing the number of Bachelor of Engineering (BE) seats due to challenges in job placement for engineering graduates.
