Gone are the days when students from Indian states pursue higher studies in India itself!!
Now in search of more greener pastures, many students these days go abroad to do their higher studies. It has been revealed now that from the state of TN 8percent of the students go abroad for their higher studies. Information is that this figure is double than Kerala state with 4% students going abroad for their higher studies. It must be noted that from the state of Karnataka 6% of the students go abroad to pursue their higher education.
From states like Punjab, MaharashtrA and Andhra-Telangana etc, 12.5% students go abroad for their higher studies. It was confirmed by the Indian Students Mobility Report 2023 that there has been an increase of 15% of students going abroad for higher studies. It has been predicted that by 2025, there would be about 20lakhs overseas applicants. Information gathered is that by 2025 India students spending for overseas education would go to 70 billion USD.
Preferred destinations of the students:
As per the report, countries like Germany, France, Russia, Ireland, Singapore etc are highly preferred by the students for their higher studies.
It is learnt that in 2019 10.9 lakhs students (approx) from India went abroad for higher studies. In 2022, about 13.24lakhs Indian students went to foreign countries for their higher education. It is now mentioned that if the current growth rate of 15% continues then by 2025 about 20lakhs Indians would be studying abroad.
