Prior to the monsoon, the corporation is diligently working on tasks like desilting stormwater drains, vector control, and clearing blocked pathways for water flow in various areas. Additionally, they are investing in a 12.50 km stormwater drain network at a cost of ₹37.59 crore, covering 70 divisions across five zones. As of the end of October, they`ve already spent ₹3 crore to clean 785 km of existing drains.
To combat flooding, the corporation has identified flood-prone zones and secured 80 diesel and electric generators for water pumping, along with 21 excavators for clearing potential blockages. They are also collaborating with government departments to remove encroachments, while the State highways department has installed six heavy-duty motor pumps in vital subways to prevent pedestrian inconveniences caused by stagnant rainwater.
