Controlling or reducing the levels of emissions to avoid air pollution is very important!!
Now the universities belonging to TN including Anna University have taken an important decision of using electric vehicles inside their campus.
Fuelled vehicles would emit excessive carbon and this would lead to many issues. To avoid this, the government of TN has asked all the universities including the private ones to create awareness among students regarding implications of excess carbon emissions. This was according to a senior official from the Higher Education Dept. He added that the universities and various institutes of higher education have already initiated carbon footprints in their campuses. Soon, there would be further intensification of the initiative.
The shocking piece of information is that in the last 2 decades the carbon dioxide levels have crossed about 420 PPM and would be expected to increase 3 PPM annually. It was later explained by a senior officer from Anna University that driving motorised vehicles inside the AU campus was restricted to lower the emission levels. To reduce the use of fuelled vehicles inside the campus, electric vehicles usage was being implemented. He concluded that 3 e-vehicles of 14 seat capacity and one 4 sea capacity are being used by the students, staff and visitors etc.
