Due to low depression in Bay of Bengal, districts in Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur have been experiencing heavy down pour of rain since last night. In addition, places including Aarani, Cheyyaru, Thiruchi, Samayapuram, etc have also been experiencing the same. Further to this, the respective district collectors have ordered for a one day holiday for all schools and colleges.

Unlike Chennai or Kanchipuram, the Vellore collector has announced holiday only for the schools and not for colleges. The district collectors from Chennai, Vellore and Kanchipuram have also stressed the point that the quarterly examinations for eleventh and twelfth grade students will have no changes and will carry on as per schedule. However, at Thiruvallure, only the twelfth grade students will have the quarterly exams and not eleventh grade students.

Coming to the road conditions of areas in Chennai, due to heavy rain, areas including T-nagar, Guindy, Ashok nagar, etc are flooded with rain water. This has hugely affected the city’s transportation with severe traffic issues. Rain has also affected the daily life of the public. People residing in low line areas are put in trouble due to water stagnancy in and around their houses.
