To help the public travelling outside Chennai and peripheral places etc for the Deepavali, The Thiruvallur dist administration is constructing a temporary bus stand on the Chennai-Bengaluru highway in Poonamallee, Chennai.
The collector Mr. T. Prabhushankar made his presence felt here yesterday along with other officers and inspected various facilities like drinking water, sign boards, waiting area etc.
The press release confirmed that nearly 656 buses to various places like Hosur, Dharmapuri, Chittoor, Ambur, Thirupathur, Kancheepuram, Arani, Tirupati, Thirauttani etc would be operated from the bus stand on the eve of deepavali.
On Wednesday, transport dept secretary Mr. Phanindra Reddy inspected various arrangements being made for the passengers at the bus terminus in Poonamallee. It is learnt that the transport dept secretary along with other officials belonging to several other govt departments took stock of transport arrangements at the terminus.
For 3 days from Thursday to Saturday from 5 bus termini including Koyambedu, Poonamallee, Madhavaram, KK. Nagar and Tambaram MEPZ, the transport dept would be operating several bus services to various destinations across TN.
