In an announcement on Tuesday, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi revealed that over 1.1 lakh Class 11 and 12 students are actively participating in coaching classes for competitive exams within government schools statewide.
Notably, 46,216 students are preparing for the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET), 29,279 for Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE), and 31,730 for both. The minister assured that dates for public exams in classes 10, 11, and 12 will be announced post-Deepavali to avoid clashes with ongoing competitive exams.
The recently introduced standard operating procedure emphasizes subject-specific coaching on designated days, with tests conducted every Friday from 4 pm to 5.30 pm. The minister shared these details during the state-level Children`s Day celebrations, where outstanding schools were honored for their achievements.
