The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) is gearing up for India`s groundbreaking on-street night Formula 4 racing event, the "Chennai Formula Racing Circuit," scheduled for December 9 and 10 around Island Grounds in Chennai.
Anticipating the impact on traffic, the Greater Chennai City Traffic Police has outlined proposed road diversions set to be enforced from November 17 to December 1. Noteworthy changes include the incorporation of Flag Staff Road into the racing circuit, with vehicles restricted from War Memorial to Wallajah point. Alternative routes will guide diverted traffic through the RBI subway, directing them to Parrys corner area or other locations.
Conversely, vehicles heading from Muthusamy Bridge towards Flag Staff Road will maintain their regular routes. Additionally, partial closures are expected in key areas, such as Anna Salai (Pallavan Salai junction to Munro Statue), Swami Sivananda Salai (from Periyar statue to Napier bridge), and Kamarajar Salai (from Napier Bridge to War Memorial). The affected carriageways will be reduced, prompting the rerouting of heavy vehicles to Pallavan Salai junction in Anna Salai and Sivanandha Salai from Beach Road.
