Anna University has recently increased its examination fees by 50%, raising the previous amount of Rs.150 to Rs.225. For students facing nine papers per semester, this translates to a significant burden, with the total exam fee now reaching Rs.2050.
Furthermore, the cost of obtaining a degree certificate has surged from Rs.1000 to Rs.1500. Notably, the project fee for final-year students has experienced a threefold increase, soaring from Rs.300 to Rs.900, compared to the previous allowance of Rs.600.
This substantial fee hike has triggered concerns, particularly among rural students, who find themselves disproportionately affected. Students have united in expressing their dissatisfaction, vehemently demanding the immediate withdrawal of the 50% fee increase.
