When will the Pamban vertical bridge be inaugurated?

On Friday, 17th November 2023, Mr. Roop Narayan Sunkar, member infrastructure RB revealed that the Pamban vertical bridge would be inaugurated by the month of February in 2024. Point is that he inspected several infrastructural projects in Rameswaram. He spoke about how about 90% of the work on the bridge has been completed and how despite some initial delays good quality work has been carried out. Station redevelopment work at Rameswaram railway station was inspected by Mr. Roop Narayan Sunkar. As the old bridge was damaged, it is necessary to replace it by a new vertical bridge.
The Railways has been in touch with the TN govt and waiting for the approval and land for the proposed railway line between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi. It is learnt that survey and other works have been completed and the project was feasible. Information collected is that the alignment runs parallel to the present route and the tract would be elevated. By this, the railway track would not get affected by low and high tides. The Dhanushkodi work would start from the moment TN govt gives its approval.
