Due to the ongoing and persistent rains associated with the northeast monsoon season in the State of Tamil Nadu, there has been a significant increase in the inflow of water to the Chembarambakkam Drinking Water Reservoir, situated adjacent to the Chennai Metro City.
The Chembarambakkam Water Reservoir, located at the Kundrathur Circle in Kanchipuram District, spans an area of 25.51 sq. km, with a height of 24 ft. The reservoir has a substantial capacity of 3645 million cubic feet.
In recent times, the incessant rains in Kanchipuram District have led to a considerable rise in the water inflow to the reservoir. As of now, the reservoir`s water level has reached 21.97 ft. The current inflow of water stands at 142 cubic feet, while the outflow is recorded at 160 cubic feet.
This surge in water inflow highlights the growing water levels within the reservoir, emphasizing the need for careful monitoring and management of the water resources to ensure the safety and sustainability of the reservoir and its surrounding areas.
