Wooden logs falling from a lorry on the road has affected the traffic on the busy Vandalur-Minjur ORR in Chennai yesterday. This took many by surprise. It must be taken into account that a lorry was carrying wood logs from Gummidipoondi to Erode. Yesterday afternoon, the rope that was holding the wooden logs got loosened and due to that the wooden logs fell down on the road. It is shocking to note that few wooden logs fell on the railway tracks below the flyover.
As a result of wooden logs falling on the road, there was heavy traffic congestion on the ORR and for about 5km vehicles piled up. After clearing the wooden logs, the traffic was diverted to Tambaram. Police revealed that the lorry carried more wooden logs than it could hold and due to that logs fell down on the road. After nearly 4 hours, vehicles started to move.
