Chennai Metro Rail Announces Major Traffic Diversions for Underground Station Construction

As per CMRL communication received from chennai metro rail followed by a meeting of the locals with them there is going to be a major traffic diversion in the surroundings for the next 3 years from this Saturday (25-11-2023) 3 underground stations are coming up.

1. Royapettah Area:

  • The flyover near Royapettah PNB will be cut in the middle.
  • Traffic from Royapettah is advised to turn left onto Lloyd’s Road (V.P. Raman Salai).
  • Proceed to Radhakrishnan Salai through Judge Jambulingam Salai (near Bharath Petrol Pump).
  • Continue to Luz Vivek’s via V.M. Street (at Yellow Pages/HSBC junction) and Royapettah High Road.

2. Luz Junction:

  • Luz Junction will be closed due to the construction of two underground stations.
  • A temporary road access will be provided from Vivek’s to facilitate travel to the Kamadhenu area.

3. Mandaveli Area:

  • The next underground station will be at Mandaveli.
  • Vehicles from Adyar are required to turn left near the church on R.K. Mutt Road.
  • Proceed to Devanathan Street, then onto R.K. Mutt Road up to Sangeetha Junction.
  • Turn left via Sai Baba Temple and continue to Warren Road.
  • Reach Amrutanjan using the road adjacent to Nageswara Rao Park, then cross over to Karpagam Salai (road opposite to Amrutanjan).

Please be aware that these diversions will be in effect starting from Saturday, November 25, 2023. We urge you to take note of these changes and plan your routes accordingly to avoid unnecessary delays.
