According to the Meteorological Department, a new low-pressure area is forming near Andaman today and is anticipated to strengthen into a depression by the 29th.
In a press release from the Director of the Chennai Meteorological Research Centre, P. Senthamaraikannan stated, "A new low-pressure area is expected to form today in the South Andaman Sea and the adjoining South East Bay of Bengal. It may intensify into a depression on the 29th."
Due to a change in the speed of easterly winds, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in most coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and a few places in the interior districts today (Nov 27). Starting tomorrow until the 2nd of December, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry may experience light to moderate rains.
Chennai and its suburbs are expected to be partly cloudy for the next two days. Some parts of the city may also experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning.
In the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am yesterday, Chethiyathoppu in Cuddalore district recorded the maximum rainfall at 17 cm. Rainfall has been reported in various areas.
