Many commuters use the railway stations at Ambattur and Thiruvallur etc.
By the month of March in 2024, the ongoing redevelopment work that has been going at Ambattur railway station and Thiruvallur railway station would be completed. This was mentioned in a statement by the Chennai Division belonging to the Southern Railways. It is superb to note that these 2 railway stations would have enhanced amenities like wider FOB, lifts, escalators etc. The civic works started in these railway stations a few months back is known.
The Ambattur and Thiruvallur railway stations have been designated for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of Rs 21.67 cr and Rs 28.82 cr respectively.
Point to be noted is that the Ambattur railway station is now undergoing a huge transformation as a new station building is being constructed. In addition, pedestrian approaches plus others like re-roofing of platform shelters, 2 wheeler parking areas, installation of wider foot over bridge or FOB etc in the Ambattur railway stations are also carried out now.
It was brought out by an official that due to the closing of the existing level crossing gate to facilitate smooth movement for the public a 12m width foot over bridge is being built at a cost of Rs 5 cr. He then mentioned that the railway station would have an upgraded passenger information system on both the platforms and concourse areas etc. There would also be installation of CCTVs etc here. In the same manner, there would be huge transformations at the Thiruvallur railway station also.
