If you are a resident of Chennai and if you have been finding it uncomfortable due to the cold climate now, then you are not alone!!
The northerly winds over the sea would make Chennai city cold for a few more days. This was mentioned by RMC in Chennai. There is likely to be mist or haze in the state of TN in the early morning hours for the next few days. The maximum temperature would decrease further in the next few days. The RMC added that in the second week of January the NE monsoons would come to an end in TN. Till the end of the month, the monsoons would continue in various parts belonging to Tamil Nadu.
According to Mr. S. Balachandran, DDG of Meteorology, RMC, Chennai, in the last few days, the climate in Chennai and in many coastal districts in TN has been cold and that was due to the northerly winds. In the next few days, the winter season would begin in Tamil Nadu and it is now said that TN would have the coldest days for about 2 months.
Yesterday in Chennai, the maximum temperature recorded was 30 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature recorded was 29 degrees Celsius. For the next 2 days, the weather dept has predicted that the temp would be around 29 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius. From January onwards, the temperatures are likely to come down further. Till 28th December, some areas in north TN and south TN are likely to receive light to moderate rains.
It was brought out by popular weather blogger Mr. Pradeep John that there would be no heavy rains in TN for a week. He added that for the second consecutive year in a row on Christmas rains would be expected in Chennai and in coastal parts of TN.
