These days, the use of technology is not only a boon for us but it is also a bane!!

Many cyber crimes have been taking place these days in Chennai alone and the public get cheated by the fraudsters. The public loses lots of their hard earned money etc to these fraudsters. It is superb to note that in 2023, the cyber crime wing of Chennai police has reverted over Rs 2 cr of stolen money to the victims.

Out of the registered 1626 cyber crime cases in 2023 in Chennai, the police have arrested 147 criminals. This was revealed by an official release from the Chennai police dept.

The fraudsters or con men as they are called have been using newer methods to target the residents through their mobile phones now. It must be noted that the public now are finding it difficult due to the electricity bill scam, matrimonial scams, courier scams etc plus due to the already existing phishing scam etc

In this situation at the police commissionerate yesterday, the Chennai police commissioner organised a meeting between police dept, banks and telecom service providers etc. It was later explained by a police officer that the coordination meeting was held as the time was crucial. He added that help from the banks and telecom service providers was very much needed to trace the suspects etc.

The police dept mentioned that yesterday in the meeting as many as 60 nodal officers from various banks and telecom service providers took part. In the meeting, the challenges faced in tackling the cyber crime cases plus the need to expedite the processing of complaints filed through cybercrime helpline 1930 were discussed.
