In a move to enhance efficiency and address consumer complaints promptly, Tangedco has restructured the Tambaram operation and maintenance division. The division now comprises two new entities: Pallavaram and Sholinganallur.
The Pallavaram division encompasses sub-divisions such as Pallavaram, Pammal, and Kadapperi, while the Sholinganallur division covers Medavakkam, Pallikaranai, and Sithalapakkam sub-divisions. This strategic reorganization is part of Tangedco`s broader plan to optimize distribution regions, ensuring effective monitoring of sub-divisions for an uninterrupted and reliable power supply.
Rapid urbanization has led to a surge in workload, impacting service delivery and complaint resolution. By creating these new divisions, Tangedco aims to distribute the workload evenly, providing better services to consumers. Last year, Tangedco introduced three new distribution regions—Karur, Thanjavur, and Thiruvannamali—and shifted the Chennai South Region to the Kancheepuram region.
Further changes include the creation of a new Chenani Region by reorganizing divisions in Chennai North and Kancheepuram regions. The Chennai Region will cover all 15 divisions within the Chennai districts, streamlining administrative processes and improving consumer complaint resolution. The Kancheepuram regions will encompass Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur districts. Tangedco is currently seeking the input of trade unions on these developments.
