Ticket bookings for major express trains, including Nellai and Pandian, have kicked off to facilitate travel to hometowns during the upcoming summer holidays. With final exams scheduled from late March to the second week of April 2024, residents, particularly from cities like Chennai and Coimbatore, are gearing up to visit their hometowns and tourist destinations.
As the railways allow ticket bookings 120 days in advance, people are taking advantage of the opportunity to secure their travel plans for the months of April and May. Southern Railway officials note that while many are currently planning trips for Pongal, a significant number are already reserving seats for summer vacations.
Passengers are particularly eyeing trains like Nellai, Kanyakumari, and Pandyan express for travel to southern districts post the second weekend of April. Notably, there are still available tickets, ranging from 20 to 100, especially on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. However, certain trains, such as Potikai and Tiruchendur Express, are witnessing sold-out reservations with waiting lists on specific dates, like April 10th, 12th, and 13th.
