In the future, it would be possible for the residents to go from Saidapet to Teynampet in less than 5 minutes. Surprised right!!
Yes it`s true. This would be possible due to the construction of a 3.2km elevated corridor on the busy Anna Salai in Chennai.
At the 5 major road intersections like Eldams Road, SIET College, Cenotaph Road, Nandanam and CIT Road on the Anna Salai, traffic pile-ups would be avoided by the construction of a 4lane elevated corridor. It is now said that this would carry about 2.5lakhs of vehicles every day. An amount of Rs 621 cr would be used for this elevated corridor construction work.
It is worthy to mention that in normal circumstances the pile foundation method would be used to construct elevated structures. As the CMRL line is underneath the main road in Anna Salai this method cannot be used and instead a shallow foundation method would be used. It was mentioned by an official release that the soil strength didn`t support the plan and hence experts from countries like Germany, England etc have been roped in to arrive at the final plan.
