On Tuesday, 23rd January, the Chennai Railway Division released a notification announcing the establishment of a deluxe passengers` waiting room at the Chennai Metro City MGR Central Railway Station. This facility caters to passengers with short waiting periods and boasts advanced amenities akin to those found in airport waiting rooms.
Situated near the main entrance, adjacent to Platform #6, this deluxe waiting room is equipped with cutting-edge technology. The Chennai Railway Division has entered into a 5-year contract agreement with `Ten-11 Hospitality` for this service, at a cost of Rs. 17.75 Crores.
The waiting lounge has a capacity for 180 passengers, offering both seating and sleeping arrangements. Additional conveniences include vegetarian and non-vegetarian restaurants, restroom and bathing facilities, as well as a dedicated space for luggage storage.
A nominal fee of Rs. 200/- per hour will be levied for utilizing this deluxe waiting room, which comes with complimentary coffee and Wi-Fi services. For those opting for the sleeping facility, a charge of Rs. 840/- per person for a 3-hour period will be applicable. This package includes free amenities such as water bottles, cool drinks, and Wi-Fi services.
