Piling up of civic issues in Chennai is really worrying the residents now!!

The unresolved civic issues pile up over a period of time in Chennai and this is causing few headaches for many. There is now a shortage of skilled manpower plus equipment in many departments belonging to the TN government.  Now, in CMWSSB and in GCC, the shortage of technical staff has been an issue.

As a result, the departments have been finding it difficult to manage public grievances and resolve problems. Truth is that the services of these above said have been hampered badly due to shortage of both engineers and vehicles etc. It must be noted that an engineer has not been able to resolve the issues quickly and efficiently now as he is in-charge of more than 2 places. Po9it is that issues raised in the complaint cells have been closed without proper rectification. Many Chennai residents complain now that the field workers do not visit their neighbourhoods.

As per a resident from Korukkupet in north Chennai it was very clear that the civic authorities just lament about the shortage of staff when they were notified about the civic issues like road, solid waste, sewage overflow etc. He spoke about how during the floods sewage water entered the houses of the residents here and how despite many complaints no action was taken fast. The bitter fact is that just one engineer is in-charge of many streets here.

Many north Chennai residents now feel that any issue in southern Chennai would be addressed immediately and only north Chennai gets neglected.  Shortage of staff leads to lack of coordination and incomplete development works etc. It is now brought out that the civic body must appoint more assistant engineers and ward councillors must be informed about the shuffling of the officers etc.
