The increase in the prices of construction materials have not gone down well now!!
The BAI or Builders Association of India has announced a one day token strike across TN, Andaman & Nicobar and Puducherry etc. This was according to Mr. Ayyappan, president of BAI.
It must be taken into account that the executive meeting of the association for TN, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar was held at Trichy. Mr. Aiyyappan spoke about how the prices of m-sand, blue metal and crusher dust have increased three times and how more than 50percent of the construction works were stopped. Truth is that this has led to the delay in the completion of government construction works also. In the upcoming days, the builders have decided to avoid tender calls.
Reason for the shortage of m-sand and blue metal:
It was revealed by Mr. Ayappan that more than 2000 stone quarries were functioning in TN and more than 50percent of the quarries have been closed down. As a result, there has been a shortage in the m-sand and blue metal now leading to increase in their prices. The need for the hour is a regulation committee to control the hike in the material prices and this was as per the association. He concluded that for the sake of the demands the association has decided to hold a one day token strike.
Other important persons who made their presence felt at the meeting were Mr. Thirisangu, state president of the Federation for the TN State Highways Contractors Association plus few others.
