Chief Kazi Qazi Salahuddin Mohammad Ayub has announced that Ramadan will commence on Thursday, April 11th. He made the announcement on Tuesday, stating that the crescent moon marking the new Islamic month of Shawwal was not sighted on Tuesday.
According to Islamic tradition, Ramadan is observed on the 30th day after the start of fasting, regardless of whether the crescent moon is visible. Consequently, Chief Kazi Qazi Salahuddin Mohammad Ayub declared that Ramadan would be observed throughout Tamil Nadu starting on Thursday, April 11th. Muslims observe a 30-day fast every year, which began on March 11th this year.
