The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced that the Purasaiwalkam sewage treatment plant will be non-operational on May 22 and 23 due to ongoing sewage interconnection work on Dr. Ambedkar College Road.
Residents of Royapuram, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Anna Nagar, and Teynampet zones may experience sewage overflow and stagnation during this period. In such cases, they should contact the concerned officials.
The Chennai Corporation is constructing a 900-meter pipeline for sewage interconnection as part of the Ganesapuram Vyasarpadi Jeeva railway station overbridge project. The work will take place from 4 PM on May 22 to 6 AM on May 23. Once completed, this pipeline will prevent sewage stagnation near the overbridge.
Due to this construction, the Purasaiwalkam sewage treatment plant in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar (Zone 6) will be closed for two days. Thirteen areas across four zones, including Langs Garden, Napier Park, Wall Tax Road, Ayanavaram, Perambur, Kilpauk, Shenoy Nagar, Chetpet, and Greams Road, will be affected.
CMWSSB has arranged sewage suction machines for these areas during the closure. Residents can reach out to the area engineers and assistant area engineers for assistance:
