Great news about the starting of the construction work of AIIMS Hospital in Madurai yesterday!!
The huge build up area of more than 2lakh square metre at Thoppur in Madurai was buzzing with many activities yesterday. Residents in and around Madurai need not go far away to get top quality treatment at affordable rates in the future.
The superb news now is that AIIMS OR All India Institute of Medical Sciences has officially started construction at Thoppur. Recently, SEIAA or State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority has given environmental clearance. This was revealed in a statement on Tuesday.
Yesterday, 21st May 2024, there was a ceremonial event and it was attended by few important officers belonging to AIIMS and L & T. In another 18 months, phase one of the construction project with medical college, hostels, OPD, IPD and emergency block etc would be completed. In another 33 months, the entire construction work would get completed.
Initially an amount of Rs 1977.80 cr was allotted for AIIMS construction work but now the amount has increased to Rs 2021.51 cr. Information gathered was that AIIMS would be constructed on a huge built up land area of 231782 sq m.
Salient features of AIIMS Madurai:
It is noteworthy that AIIMS in Madurai would have about 900 beds that includes 150 bed blocks especially for infectious diseases plus 30bed AYUSH block. There would be integration of Ayurvedic, Yoga, Unani, Sidha and Homeopathy etc in this upcoming hospital. Point is that with the construction of AIIMS a quality tertiary care hospital with 900 beds would be established.
