Hyundai Motor India Limited inaugurated Chennai`s first 180 kW high-speed charging station for four-wheeler electric vehicles at Spencer Plaza Mall, Annasalai. This marks a significant milestone as the sole high-speed public electric vehicle charging facility in Chennai. The station boasts both 150 kW and 30 kW charging connections.
Jay Wan Ryu, Managing Director of Hyundai`s Planning Division, expressed delight in launching this initiative on the occasion of Hyundai Motor India`s 28th anniversary. He emphasized Hyundai`s commitment to enhancing convenience for all electric vehicle users, intending for the charging stations to be accessible to any four-wheeler electric vehicle owners. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a total of 100 high-speed charging stations across Tamil Nadu, spanning major highways and cities, to bolster the electric vehicle ecosystem and foster increased adoption statewide.
Customers can book slots at Hyundai`s public 180 kW high-speed charging station via the `My Hyundai` app, facilitating digital payments and remote charging status monitoring. Importantly, this app caters to both Hyundai and non-Hyundai electric vehicle users.
Confirming the government`s support for such initiatives, Tamil Nadu Industry Minister T. R. B. Rajaa affirmed the necessity of expanding charging infrastructure to facilitate electric vehicle adoption. He pledged to expedite the establishment of state-of-the-art charging centers across Tamil Nadu.
