Posted on: 03/Jun/2024 9:40:36 AM

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has reported a significant escalation in the southwest monsoon, heralding widespread showers across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. This surge is attributed to a low-pressure system emerging in the southeast, promising light to moderate rainfall coupled with thunder, lightning, and gusty winds until June 5.

Anticipated Heavy Rainfall in Interior Districts

On June 5, heavy downpours are predicted to drench numerous northern districts in Tamil Nadu, including Salem, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kancheepuram, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Vellore, and Ranipet. Inhabitants are urged to brace for potential flooding and associated disruptions.

Light Rainfall from June 6 to 8

Between June 6 and 8, intermittent light rain is expected to grace various parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Conditions are projected to normalize gradually, with scattered showers dotting the region.

Chennai Weather Overview

Over the next 48 hours, Chennai is poised to experience partly cloudy skies. Certain locales might witness sporadic light rainfall, offering respite from the sweltering summer temperatures.
