In a recent announcement in the Legislative Assembly, plans have been unveiled to rehabilitate and reconstruct six heritage buildings across Tamil Nadu, totaling ₹43.34 crore in investment.
The projects include:
• Renovation of Kamarajar House in Thiagarayar Nagar, Chennai, estimated at ₹2.60 crore.
• Rehabilitation of Victory Memorial School for the Blind in Poonamallee, Chennai, at a cost of ₹24.20 crore.
• Restoration of the Madras Literary Society building at Nungambakkam Prof. Anbazagan Campus, Chennai, budgeted at ₹6.19 crore.
• Refurbishment of Trichy Town Hall Government Girls High School building with an allocation of ₹4.85 crore.
• Revitalization of Kanyakumari Edalakudy Sadavathani Seikuthambi Bawalar Government High School building, with a budget of ₹3 crore.
• Reconstruction of Ranipet Desingu Raja and Rani Bai memorials, costing ₹2.50 crore.
These initiatives aim to preserve and enhance the architectural and historical significance of these landmarks, contributing to the cultural heritage and educational infrastructure of Tamil Nadu.
