The State government has released a new curriculum for five core diploma courses-civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering (EEE), and computer engineering-targeting second and third-year polytechnic students. This curriculum will be implemented in the upcoming academic year across 492 polytechnic colleges, including 54 government and 32 government-aided institutions, serving around 1.8 lakh students.
A senior official from the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) highlighted the need for skill-based talent to meet changing industry requirements, focusing on deep-tech and knowledge-based sectors. The redesigned syllabus, created with inputs from industries and Guidance Tamil Nadu, aims to enhance employability and entrepreneurship through skill-centric and industry-aligned curricula.
The final curriculum for the third to sixth semesters under New Regulation 2023 has been uploaded on the official website. Principals have been instructed to inform faculty and students and display the changes on notice boards.
