The surprising piece of news that has come out now is that RMC or Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has issued a yellow warning for Western Ghats districts of TN such as Nilgris, Coimbatore etc for the next 2 days. This is mainly due to the strong westerlies that have been prevailing over the sea. It must be noted that a wind warning has been issued to TN as the winds might reach speeds of 35kmph to 45kmph in the coming days.
There is a change in the wind flow pattern over the sea and that is because of a low pressure area that has formed over north Bay of Bengal and in the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal.
For the next 2 days, heavy rainfall warnings have been issued to various districts belonging to TN such as Nilgris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi and Virudhunagar etc. The speeds of winds would reach 35kmph to 45kmph to gusting 55kmph. Over the Western Ghats, there would be normal to above normal rains and this was as per weather models. Till 1st August, remaining parts of TN are likely to receive below normal rainfall.
In the coastal and in the interior districts of TN, the max temp is likely to increase slightly in the day. Chennai and its nearby districts might get light to moderate rainfall in the evenings or at the night time. Till 30th July, the fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea and RMC has issued a warning in this regard.
