The Directorate of Medical Education in Tamil Nadu will commence counselling for admissions to medical and dental courses for the academic year 2024-25 starting August 21. Special category counselling for the 7.5% reservation quota for government school students will follow on August 22.

The state rank list, based on NEET-UG results, is scheduled for release on August 19.
For the 2024-25 academic year, Tamil Nadu offers 9,050 MBBS seats and 2,200 BDS seats. The online application process for admissions to MBBS/BDS degree courses in government medical and dental colleges, government quota seats in self-financing institutions, the ESIC Medical College affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, and private universities in the state is currently open. The deadline for applications is 5 pm on August 8.
Additionally, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced that registrations for the NEET-UG counselling under the 15% All India quota will start in the first week of August, with the counselling process expected to begin around August 14.
