Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, about 60 percent of redevelopment works have been completed at the Chengalpet railway station now. This was mentioned by a statement from SR. It is known that the Amrit Bharat Station scheme gives importance to the development of key railway stations across India. It is now said that the redevelopment of this railway station would cost an estimated amount of Rs 22.14 cr. By 31st of October, the total would be completed.
The redevelopment works would enhance the amenities for the passengers plus improve station infra and provide superb experience for the daily commuters.
It is worthy to note that the redevelopment work at Chengalpet railway station include construction of a new building, new entrance and porch, provision of new concourse, booking counters and additional 3 resting rooms etc. Point is that the existing station building would be modified to provide a/c waiting hall, VIP lounge, retail outlets etc.
Other important works that would be carried out at the Chengalpet railway station would be resurfacing of flooring on platforms, development of parking area, pedestrian pathways plus provision of 2 lifts and a escalator for the present FOB, passenger information display system, CCTVs, improved public announcement system and roofing sheets replacement etc.
