Over 400 scientists from around the world have gathered in Chennai for the week-long International Congress on Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (ICTAC), starting Tuesday. Hosted by IIT Madras, in collaboration with several Indian scientific societies, this is the first time ICTAC is being held in India.
Ranjit K. Verma, president of the Indian Council of Chemists, highlighted that thermal analysis, a collection of techniques for studying temperature-dependent properties of materials, has significantly advanced fields like material science, food science, and pharmaceuticals. The conference will feature over 400 research papers, including oral and poster presentations, award lectures, invited talks, and industry presentations, covering various aspects of heat effects in science and technology.
