No more entry of two wheelers at Chennai airport from now on!!
People who have gone to the Chennai airport now to pick up or give send offs to their families and friends are unhappy and disappointed. It must be taken into account that yesterday those staff in-charge of the parking area in the airport stopped all the two wheelers from entering the airport. They have mentioned that two wheelers would not be allowed to enter into the airport hereafter.
There is no official statement about this new rule by the AAI. Bitter fact is that the parking staff were rude to the passengers and other airport staff who came to the airport in two wheelers. The two wheelers must be parked on the metro train parking lot or near the administration office.
Those who would be allowed to park their vehicles in the MLCP or multi levels car parking would be AAI staff, police and CISF. Yesterday, contract labourers and other passengers who visited the airport to pick up or send off their friends and families etc found it highly uncomfortable. Point is that during the peak hours, the metro train parking would be full and even MLCP becomes full at times.
It must be recalled that about 8 years back autos were banned from entering the Chennai airport and it affected many middle class people. At present, many are unhappy regarding airport management not allowing the two wheelers to enter the airport.
The riders of the two wheelers do not follow the traffic rules properly and this was the reason for banning the two wheelers inside the airport. This was pointed out by some sources at the Chennai airport. This banning of two wheelers inside the airport is done on a trial basis now and soon an official announcement would come out.
